The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Beyond the Gates Case Worker to join our team part time (22.5 hours per week).
This role involves supporting and encouraging vulnerable students to stay connected with their schools and communities.
You will be based at St Paul's Primary School, Rutherford, working within the Wellbeing Team to support vulnerable students to stay engaged with school as well as provide community outreach, home visits, and case management services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with students and families to offer holistic case management services.
- Enhance the link between the schools and students and collaborate with the wellbeing team, learning support team and the school counselling service to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes.
- Develop and implement strengths-based support plans focused on goals and aspirations.
- Provide short-term case coordination and refer students and families to appropriate agencies.
- Collaborate with interagency networks and develop partnerships with school colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to child protection legislation and WHS guidelines.
- Directly contribute to improving the lives of many in the community.
- 1 week shutdown over Christmas and New Year annually (includes 3 days of additional paid leave + public holidays).

Position Description
The Catholic Schools Office and CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning have partnered to support the wellbeing of students and their families in our schools. This position is based within a school to help vulnerable students stay connected with their schools and communities. This role includes community outreach, home visits, and working with families to improve service engagement. The initiative aims to strengthen the relationship between schools and students, extending the supportive environment of Catholic schools into the community. Some work outside regular hours and networking with other services will be required.
Skills and Experiences:
Experience/Criteria
- An ability to effectively engage with disconnected students and their families.
- Sound understanding of Case Management and Case Coordination and person centered practices.
- A good understanding of the contributing factors to various types of disadvantage.
- An understanding of the current issues that many children and young people are facing.
- A clear understanding of child and adolescent development.
- A thorough understanding of the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a range of diverse stake holders.
- Strong organisation, time management and computer skills.
- A high level of motivation and commitment to achieving outcomes.
- Willingness and ability to travel across school areas with flexible hours based on student and family needs.
- Experience in outcomes data collection.
- Access to use of a car with full comprehensive insurance.
- Tertiary Qualifications Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, Teaching or similar disciplines.
- Current NSW Employee Working with Children Check.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
