Job Description
The INTREPID Lab at CAMH is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Community Health and Education (CH&E) Specialist with experience in knowledge translation to support the design, development and implementation of high quality professional training programs, including online courses, web-based resources and other learning materials tailored to diverse audiences. INTREPID is a large team that spans Research, Education, Healthcare system support and Commercialization across Ontario and Canada.
Reporting to the Manager, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following activities to support the implementation of training in health behaviour change, including nicotine and tobacco use, other substance use, chronic disease prevention and mental health:
- Conduct environmental scans and literature searches and synthesize evidence-based information for a range of knowledge products
- Create storyboards, develop interactive learning activities, and design course content and activities within online Learning Management Systems (including Moodle and Articulate)
- Conduct needs assessments and identify training needs among target populations
- Engage diverse learner/stakeholder populations, including youth, students, teachers, healthcare providers and parents/care-givers
- Apply a scientific lens to the initiation and development of new training and education initiatives
- Lead discussions with subject matter expert advisory groups to support training development
- Search for state of the art scientific knowledge and practices related to prevention, harm reduction, policy and cessation, as it pertains to tobacco and other nicotine use, such as e-cigarettes and vaping
The CH&E Specialist will help to develop accredited course curriculum, training programs, educational and presentation materials, and implement a comprehensive evaluation plan for online learning. The successful candidate will also evaluate training modules on a variety of process and outcome measures to ensure continuous quality improvement, and contribute to the development of the department’s strategic priorities and deliverables and other tasks as assigned. This position is currently located at 1025 Queen Street with a hybrid onsite/remote work arrangement that may transition to a fully onsite work arrangement in the future.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Education, Public Health, Social Science or related field with at least three (3) years of relevant experience in the development and delivery of training and education programming. The candidate will have experience in instructional design, and knowledge of education, learning theories, curriculum design, and evaluation models.
Key qualifications include:
- Demonstrated experience working within an online Learning Management System; experience using the Moodle platform is a strong asset
- Demonstrated experience with the development of interactive learning objects, and using HTML code to build content into online Learning Management Systems
- Advanced knowledge and experience with university library databases and reference material search and retrieval procedures
- Strong working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), social media platforms, reference management software and statistical software (SPSS, SAS)
- Strong knowledge translation, dissemination and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into a variety of engaging formats for diverse audience groups. Experience creating knowledge transfer products for a youth population is an asset.
- Superior interpersonal and communication (oral/written) skills
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and determined attitude towards ensuring accuracy and integrity
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Project management skills; familiarity with project and workplan coordination and facilitating team meetings
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment, and with diverse stakeholder groups
- Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
