The Nurse Practitioner (NP) position will provide support to the Breast Care Clinic as an educator, advocate and care provider and is responsible for the care, treatment, and well-being of patients followed in the Breast Care Clinic. Specific job duties will be reviewed annually based on volume and practice needs. NPs in the Breast Care Clinic focus on benign and malignant breast disease requiring surgical reconstruction, as well as other non-breast related diseases requiring plastic surgery. The NP will work closely with the Cancer Center Medical and Surgical Oncology practices, including satellite clinics, to provide comprehensive patient care. The NP will participate in projects, programs and other activities to support clinical practice and practice operations.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $95.69 - $124.10 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Three to five (3 to 5) years RN experience in a surgery or oncology specialty
- Six (6) months NP experience, and 2 to 5 years RN experience in a surgery or oncology specialty
Preferred Qualifications
- AOCNP® Certified
- Five (5) years of NP experience in breast surgical oncology or plastic surgery
- Experience in a high patient volume oncology practice/environment
- Experience working in an Academic Medical Center
License/Certification
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.

Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- Accepted Certifications for this position: AGNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, AGACNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, ACNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC Acceptable NP Board Certifications Checklist 2.23.24.docx
- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
