POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the development and maintenance of County parks, buildings, grounds and facilities.

*** PLEASE NOTE: While the full salary range is posted, this position has been budgeted at the entry the range, at $19.31 per hour.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Performs maintenance and upkeep of sports fields and parks.
- Conducts repair and maintenance tasks in parks, trails, and building grounds. Includes turf maintenance, fence construction and maintenance, fertilizer application, noxious weed control, seeding, top dressing, landscaping, snow and ice mitigation, and erosion control.
- Lawn and field maintenance to include sprinkler/irrigation, installation and maintenance, painting, repairs scoreboards, inspects structures and equipment.
- Maintains parks and prepares fields for sports activities. Maintains and cleans bleachers, dugouts, restrooms and surrounding areas.
- Prepares written and computer reports. Develops maintenance schedules.
- Assembles tables, benches and other equipment.
- Repairs electrical scoreboards, sound systems and mechanical equipment.
- Inspects structures, sites and equipment for safety and proper working conditions.
- Interacts with coaches, umpires, players, concession stand vendors and others to provide information and resolve problems.
- Removes ice and snow from all County property.
- Fills in for other positions as required.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
WHAT YOU HAVE
REQUIRED:
- Valid Driver's License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- Minimum of two years or more experience in sports field maintenance
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- CPR & First-Aid Certification
- Chemical Application Certification (PA) Certification
- CSU Extension Certified Gardner Certification
- Playground Inspector (CPSI) Certification
- Flagger Certification
- Stormwater Certificate
- Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must successfully pass background check.
- Must successfully pass post job offer physical examination.

DEPARTMENTS SCHEDULED TO WORK ON HOLIDAYS
Due to operational requirements, some employees will be required to work on holidays. The employee must take the holiday by the end of the month following the holiday at a date approved by their Elected Official or Department Director
SICK LEAVE
Regular full-time employees accrue eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 960 hours.
VACATION LEAVE
- Upon initial date of hire: earn eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 144 hours.
- After 5 years: earn twelve (12) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 216 hours.
- Ater 10 years: earn sixteen (16) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 288 hours.
RETIREMENT
All Regular Full-Time employees and Elected Officials are required to participate in the County Retirement Plan upon completion of one (1) month of continuous employment. A pre-tax deduction of 8.25% will be deducted from the employee's monthly pay.

EMPLOYER MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION
Pueblo County's contribution toward the purchase of your benefit options on a tiered approach and based on which medical plan you elect.
