Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, experienced leading one or more teams of System Engineers through the Systems Engineering development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system architecture design, hardware and software integration, and verification and validation activities related airborne communications systems. Support of both pursuits and customer awarded contracts is essential with this role.
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop physical and logical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Perform requirement traceability.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Perform systems engineering trade studies.
- Evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design.
- Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Develop and execute test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Communicates within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts.
- Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization, which includes large customers and vendors.
- Works to influence others to accept new practices, concepts, and approaches.
- Requires ability to communicate and influence leadership regarding matters of substantial importance to Systems Engineering here at Majors Field in Greenville, Tx.
- Responsible for improving upon existing processes or establishing new processes and systems.
- Willing and able to travel up to 25% both internationally and domestic.
- Leadership - Task or IPT Leader and/or Functional Management.
- Entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle Phases and Activities.
- Technical Baseline development and management.
- Responsible for requirements Management and Systems Architecture.
- Working with subcontractors and US Government customers.
- Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate (ATO) on government networks DODAF knowledge.
- Working government and/or military programs.
- Excellent written, oral communications skills.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience in design, development, and/or testing communication systems.
- Graduate Degree with 10 years of experience in design, development, and/or testing communication systems.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of experience in design, development, and/or testing communication systems.
- Eight years of experience leading and establishing guidance across diverse teams.
- Secret Clearance is required at the time of hire with ability to obtain a Top-Secret with SCI.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Top-Secret DoD Clearance with SCI.
