We are seeking an experienced accountant to join our Accounting team on a 1-year, full time contract. The position will report to the Director of Accounting & Treasury, and will assist the AP accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
Korea Full Charge Accountant:
(No experience with Korean-specific accounting is required. Viki will provide full training. You do not need to speak Korean.)
  • Manage full sets of accounts for Viki Korea subsidiary, including preparation of journal entries, accrual, and balance sheet reconciliation, income statements and other reporting schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closing.
  • Provide variance analysis and cost tracking.
  • Handle intercompany transactions including payments and reconciliation of balances.
  • Preparation quarterly VAT schedule and liaise with Korea-based accounting agent for submission.
  • Assist during internal audits.
  • Maintain proper documentation and accounting records.
  • Support automation initiatives and process improvements.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal controls and accounting processes.
Withholding tax:
  • Calculate quarterly withholding tax liability for Revenue reports.
  • Maintain and reconcile WHT credit schedules.
  • Assist in annual 1042 tax fillings.
  • Support Revenue accountant as needed.
Credit Cards:
  • Act as SME (subject matter expert) for American Express credit cards and Tradeshift platform.
  • Download, reconcile and match credit card transactions with receipts.
  • Upload transactions into QuickBooks.
  • Act as systems administrator for Tradeshift virtual card platform, including add new users, answer questions, ensure receipts are uploaded and troubleshoot issues.
  • Match documents to transactions for control purposes and maintain organized e-files.
Travel Coordinator:
  • Assist Viki team members in understanding travel procedures and policies.
  • Act as system administrator for the Concur and United PassPlus (travel booking platform).
AP Backup:
  • Be primary backup for AP accountant role, including upload invoices into Tipalti, liase with vendors and Viki approvers. Create payments on Tipalti and Chase bank.
Other duties and special projects as required:
  • Assist with Digital Transformation and systems implementations.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
  • Assisting with database and accounting system integration initiatives
  • Prepare reports and schedules as required.
Required Qualifications:
  • Certificate, degree, course work and/or 4-5 years’ experience in accounting
  • Experience in Full charge/full set of books accounting.
  • MS Excel and strong knowledge of QuickBooks Premier preferred.
  • Highly detail-oriented; ability to meet deadlines and effective problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Self starter who takes ownership and enjoys learning new skills
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
  • A mature, self-motivated person with a positive, professional attitude
  • Experience in the content businesses (TV, movies, music) with direct background in digital media and consumer internet businesses preferred but not required
