Job Summary

The Accounting and Operations Support Specialist will play a key role in supporting accounting and operational reporting functions for a growing restaurant group. This position is ideal for someone who is highly detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive. The role centers around accounting support, report preparation, and data integrity checks across key business functions. Occasional support for an affiliated CPA firm will be required on an ad hoc basis. If you thrive in a structured yet dynamic environment, this role is for you.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily and monthly bookkeeping tasks including cost of goods sold (COGS) tracking in QuickBooks Online
  • Maintain and update internal accounting templates and Google Sheets dashboards; ensure reporting accuracy and consistency
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses to support strategic decision-making
  • Consolidate operational and financial data across systems to produce weekly and monthly performance reports
  • Extract, clean, organize, and synthesize data from various sources (POS systems, vendor portals, bank statements) to feed into custom reports and analyses
  • Conduct basic financial analysis and variance checks to validate data integrity and flag discrepancies
  • Identify and investigate variances, trends, and anomalies in financial data, providing clear explanations and recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal team members to enhance SOPs and streamline reporting processes
  • Track inventory and assist with recipe cost analysis in support of restaurant operations
  • Support other functional areas (e.g., operations, marketing, customer success) on an as-needed basis
  • Provide occasional, ad hoc accounting or reporting support for an affiliated CPA firm

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Educational and some practical background in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance
  • Strong experience using QuickBooks Online for accounting and reconciliation tasks
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and related formulas
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform thorough sanity checks on data and reports
  • Ability to follow instruction and adhere to company procedures
  • Capable of synthesizing information from various systems and working with internally developed templates and workflows
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work independently, follow structured processes, and raise questions proactively
  • Adaptable and resourceful in a small business environment with evolving needs and responsibilities
  • Ability to work US hours, with flexibility once independently working in the role dependent on client preferences

Preferred but Not Required Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting restaurant operations, inventory tracking, or food cost analysis
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and database-driven reporting workflows
  • Prior exposure to cross-functional teams or multi-entity organizations

Job Type: Full-time
