Summary
The Accounting Assistant will support and assist the Accounting & Reporting team in carrying out their day-to-day functions. Responsibilities include accounts payable and accounting related administrative duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enter invoices into invoice processing system
  • Perform weekly payment runs
  • Maintain daily cash balance records
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate VAT treatment is applied when invoices are processed
  • Assist in the preparation, input, and upload of annual budgets and quarterly estimates
  • Prepare and input journal entries into the general ledger
  • Perform portions of Balance Sheet Reviews (analyze receivables, security deposits, accrued accounts, payables, etc.; track differences and resolve issues)
  • Create and maintain files for the group
  • Perform basic office tasks such as filing and mail processing
  • Coordinate with third-party property managers and local accounting teams across multiple countries in regards to cash movements and support their requests on payments and proper accounting classification
  • Liaise with internal and external IT teams
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to multi-task, be well organized, and flexible in a fast-paced, demanding, but team-oriented environment
  • Tenacious, determined, and enthusiastic in meeting deadlines
  • Self-starter, taking initiative on daily tasks, a “get the job done” mentality
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, and good judgement as well as constructive problem solving
  • Strong and demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English required; knowledge of other European languages will be considered an asset
  • Strong Excel skills
Education and/or Experience
  • High school degree with college level accounting classes required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least two years of related accounting experience required.
  • Yardi Voyager experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of property management preferred.
Work Environment
The position will work in a general office setting and may require travel, up to 10% of time annually, to remote office locations based on organizational/business needs.

Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the workday, sitting at a desk, consistently operating a computer. The person in this position must be able to access file cabinets and office machinery (to include a computer, copier, and fax machine). On occasion, may need to lift boxes of up to 4.5 kg.
