JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Accounts Assistant
Reporting To: Financial Accountant
Job Summary: To manage the accounts payable process; to support the production of weekly, monthly and statutory accounts for a number of cost centres and legal entities; to ensure taxation and statutory reporting requirements are processed on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Working with The Financial Accountant and the Finance Team:
- Accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices in line with Group policies and procedures
- Working with department managers ensuring timely approval of invoices and resolution of disputes
- Allocating invoices to open purchase orders
- Preparing, processing and posting weekly supplier payments
- Reconciling creditor statements on a monthly basis
- Ensuring correct documentation has been obtained for all new suppliers
- Maintaining sub-contractor records in accordance with ISO requirements
- Month end close of creditors, calculation of accruals and journal postings
· Weekly and Monthly Management Accounts
- Ensure timely and accurate sales ledger, purchase ledger and journal processing
- Ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
- Analytical review versus budget and last year
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve queries in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensuring that accounting records are maintained in accordance with accepted policies and procedures
· Taxation
- PAYE Returns
- VAT Returns
- VIES Returns
- Diesel Rebate Claim
- Customs TAN Account Reconciliation
· Intercompany Transactions
- Ensure accurate and efficient intercompany recording and recharge process
- Recharges
- Reconciliations
Requirements:
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction accurately
- Analytical thinker and problem solver
- Competent IT skills, particularly proficient with spreadsheet software
- High level of accuracy
- Extremely organised in a manner that is easily read by others
- Trustworthy and discreet when dealing with confidential information
- Administrative skills
- Previous experience of general accounting
IT Skills:
- PC literacy, MS Outlook, Excel to a high standard and Word
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software, ideally Sage
Qualification:
- Relevant Business Qualifications
- Work Experience Equivalent
- Studying or interested in studying for an accounting technician or accounting qualification
