Accounts & Payroll Officer - Onsite/Dayshift (Au)

Position Outline

A growing Australian business is seeking an Accounts & Payroll Officer to support day‑to‑day finance and payroll operations. This hands‑on, onsite role offers the opportunity to work across AP/AR, payroll administration, compliance support, and people operations, while contributing to process improvement in a collaborative and stable environment. Ideal for someone detail‑driven, adaptable, and eager to support smooth business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Finance Administrator

  • Process accounts payable, including supplier invoices, purchase orders, and payment preparation.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, allocations, and follow‑up of outstanding balances.
  • Assist with reconciliations, budget tracking, and general finance administration.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with audit preparation and provision of supporting documentation across finance functions.
  • Contribute to process improvement, system efficiency, and workflow accuracy within finance operations.

Payroll Administration & Compliance

  • Support payroll processing activities, including payroll data preparation, validation, reconciliations, and record maintenance.
  • Assist with leave administration, timesheet coordination, payroll documentation, and payroll reporting.
  • Support payroll compliance activities, including record keeping for tax, superannuation, and leave entitlements.
  • Maintain accurate employee, supplier, and subcontractor records across relevant systems.

General Administration Support

  • Assist with onboarding activities, employment documentation, and general people administration as required.
  • Support the accurate management of forms, files, and records in line with internal processes.
  • Provide front‑of‑house or general administrative support where required.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding finance, payroll, payment, and record‑related matters.
  • Perform additional position‑level duties as required to support business operation


Requirements


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in accounts, payroll, or a similar finance administration role.
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and payroll support.
  • Experience in budget tracking, financial reporting, and basic financial analysis.
  • Good understanding of payroll administration, leave processing and finance record maintenance.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Good communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Good understanding of Environmental, Quality, and OHS Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems/toola
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to use common technologies efficiently.
  • High attention to detail and proactive problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative while collaborating effectively in a team.
  • Experience with other finance/payroll systems is advantageous.
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or modular building industries is advantageous. • Understanding of GST, payroll basics, Fair Work considerations and finance compliance is advantageous.
