The Opportunity
Lesley University’s Graduate Department of Counseling & Psychology is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: Issues in School Counseling for the School Adjustment Counselor. Thursdays, 4-6:30pm. This course is taught fully in-person, on-campus.
Course Description: Focus is on the provision of adjustment counseling services within the school context. Students come to understand schools as unique organizations with an understanding of how various personnel serve students. The counselor's work with teachers, parents, other school and agency personnel, and the system as a whole is addressed with a focus on prevention and treatment models, the juvenile justice system as it relates to students in the community, and the unique legal and ethical issues facing the school adjustment counselor.
Qualities and Capabilities
A successful candidate will have:
- Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field, or a relevant terminal doctoral degree
- Relevant teaching experience is preferred
- Relevant professional licensure required
- Commitment to integrating social justice practices into the curriculum
