Trevor Frances Recruitment is proud to represent our client in seeking a dedicated Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing key accounting processes, including vendor billing approvals, third-party logistics invoices, and customer payment tracking. In this role, you will ensure efficient accounting practices and develop new controls to support ongoing process improvements.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee an Accountant and Accounts Payable while managing the Accounts Receivable processes.
+ Review and approve vendor bills, including accounts payable charges for warehousing, freight, and customs duties.
+ Monitor and update customer payment status within internal systems.
+ Conduct bank reconciliations and apply necessary adjustments.
+ Calculate distributor rebates and cash discounts, managing expense analyses.
+ Prepare and submit monthly HST reports for review.
+ Perform month-end account reviews and finalize accounts.
+ Propose and implement accounting controls and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
+ Stay up-to-date on best practices in bookkeeping and accounting standards.
+ Assist with special projects and other account-related tasks as required.
Qualifications
+ College coursework in bookkeeping or accounting required; professional designation (CA, CPA or CMA) preferred.
+ At least five (5) years of experience in accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and team oversight.
+ Strong understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and process improvement strategies.
+ Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office applications.
+ Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
+ Ability to manage time effectively and handle numerical details with accuracy.
+ Willingness to work outside regular hours when needed.
