Assistant Director

The Y Claremont Meadows OSHC provides a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for school-aged children before and after school, and during school holidays. Located within the Claremont Meadows community, our service is a welcoming space where children are supported to learn, play and grow through fun, age-appropriate programs.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director to join our Out of School Hours Care team. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Director in delivering high-quality care and educational programs for school-aged children during before and after school hours, as well as during school holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Director in the daily operations and management of the Out of School Hours Care program
• Support the development and implementation of age-appropriate activities and educational programs
• Supervise and mentor staff members to ensure quality service delivery
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and safety standards
• Foster positive relationships with children, families, and school communities
• Assist with staff scheduling, training, and performance management
• Support budget management and resource allocation
• Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives
• Handle administrative duties including record keeping and reporting
• Ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children

Essential Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Education, or related field
• Minimum 3 years' experience in out of school hours care or similar childcare environment
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Working with Children Check (or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate programming
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficiency in administrative tasks and computer applications
• Commitment to maintaining professional standards and ongoing development

Desirable Qualifications

• Additional certifications in child safety or behavior management
• Experience with program planning and curriculum development
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
• Bilingual capabilities to support diverse communities
