The Y Claremont Meadows OSHC provides a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for school-aged children before and after school, and during school holidays. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director to join our Out of School Hours Care team. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Director in delivering high-quality care and educational programs for school-aged children during before and after school hours, as well as during school holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Director in the daily operations and management of the Out of School Hours Care program
- Support the development and implementation of age-appropriate activities and educational programs
- Supervise and mentor staff members to ensure quality service delivery
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and safety standards
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and school communities
- Assist with staff scheduling, training, and performance management
- Support budget management and resource allocation
- Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Handle administrative duties including record keeping and reporting
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Education, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in out of school hours care or similar childcare environment
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Working with Children Check (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate programming
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in administrative tasks and computer applications
- Commitment to maintaining professional standards and ongoing development
Desirable Qualifications
- Additional certifications in child safety or behavior management
- Experience with program planning and curriculum development
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Bilingual capabilities to support diverse communities
