SUMMARY
In conjunction with the Yamas General Manager, the Yamas Assistant General Manager is responsible for insuring the overall quality of guest service and food quality; in doing so, creating an efficient and professional environment for all guests and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- As Yamas Assistant General Manager you will be responsible for hands-on supervision of the entire Yamas front of the house team including servers, server’s assistants, hosts, and bartenders
- Ensure all Yamas staff is current in their certifications; ex: Tips, ServSafe
- Directly responsible for the grooming / uniform standards and appearance of all Yamas staff
- Maintains high level of sanitation and cleanliness in service areas
- Responsible for moral of staff and ensuring teamwork is kept at the highest standard
- Oversee Mixology bar staff by approving liquor list, ensuring staffing needs are met and all trends are being followed
- Assure the highest level of guest standards are met on a daily basis
- Responsible for training and management of Large Party Coordinator and approving BEO’s
- Oversee the training programs for all staff; keep up to date and current with new training methods
- Meet regularly with the Yamas General Manager and communicate appropriately to insure fluidity of communication
- Oversee the correspondence to clients in multiple forms of communication
- Manage all restaurant menus and ensure they are up to date, accurate and readily available
- Manage the restaurants wine list ensuring it is complete, profitable and current with trends
- Assist Yamas General Manager is preparation of outlet forecast, budgets and Profit and Loss statements
- Responsible for adherence to hotel service standards, control of labor expenses, effective inventory management of small wares, linens and furniture, effective scheduling and assuring guest satisfaction
- Facilitate a healthy working relationship with purchasing department. Create and manage effective inventory standards to reflect business
- Must be visible in the public space during all meal periods to ensure guest needs are being met and greeting all guests with warmth and enthusiasm
- Learn and follow all hotel policies and procedures pertaining to your area of work
- Follow established uniform standards and comply with all other company policies
- Practice safety standards and reports all unsafe conditions
- Provide fast and courteous service to our guests; to accomplish this, a well-organized work area must be maintained
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times as a goodwill ambassador of Hotel Eastport to ensure guest satisfaction
- Responsible for maintaining energy conservation, loss prevention and recycling programs within Yamas.
- Ability to follow established guidelines, procedures and policies
- Good record of attendance and punctuality at work
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- TIPS Certified
- ServSafe Certified
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- A four-year degree from an accredited college or University is preferred
- 2+ years Management experience in a high volume restaurant or hotel
- Vast understanding of wine and/or wine certification
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before guests or associates of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts or percentages. Ability to read and manage profit and loss and other financial statements. Ability to project forecasts.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

NOTICE
The hotel functions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. All employees, both management and hourly must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift as business demands.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
