Assistant Tap Room Manager

Westward Route

The Assistant Tap Room Manager is accountable for hospitality operations in absence of the Director of Hospitality. They work floor shifts to ensure Mother Road standards are upheld.


Assistant Tap Room Manager Job Accountabilities

Radical Hospitality

  • Accountable for the Mother Road guest experience while on shift

  • Sets the pace of service by managing Host work

    • Assigns stations to Hosts

    • Rotates Host crew for breaks

    • Assigns side work and checks Hosts out at the end of shift

    • Determines shift length and “cuts” Hosts commensurate with sales volume

  • Ensures that the expectations outlined in Mother Road’s employee handbook, policies, hospitality SOPs and policies, and job descriptions are met during shift

  • Assists in the deescalation of incidents relating to Safer Bars and denial of service

  • Executes Situation Escalation Policy

  • Executes the Field Quality Reporting procedure

  • Executes all Safety reporting procedures, including employee, guest and near miss

  • Coaches and provides feedback to Hosts on shift

  • Troubleshoots draft systems to ensure they are working properly

  • Fixes or places work orders for equipment or facilities in need of maintenance during shift

Corporate Services

  • Reconciles the drawer, cash drop, tips, and change bag at the end of shift

  • Ensures pertinent information is communicated via Basecamp Journal and Manager Journal

  • All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Hospitality


Job Accountabilities in Absence of Director of Hospitality

Corporate Services

  • Completes and submits the daily tips form, verifies payroll, places change orders with Executive Assistant

  • Continues projects assigned to the Director of Hospitality by the CEO

Operations

  • Serves as the Tap Room point of contact for the Situation Escalation Policy

  • Completes Director of Hospitality property walk daily

  • Beverage inventory management

    • Places beer orders

    • Places wine, cider, n/a orders

  • Point of contact for hospitality vendors

  • Side Car Grill point of contact

  • Troubleshoots other hospitality equipment and facilities

    • Places work orders and coordinates with Facilities engineer

    • Coordinates repair of equipment and facilities with vendors

People & Culture

  • Proper documentation of coaching and discipline, including verbal and written warnings

  • Performs pre-shift training with new hires

  • Performs daily stand up


Job Responsibilities

  • Table touches and checks in with guests 60% plus during shift

  • Finds ways to go above and beyond our guests’ expectations

  • Connects with guests by knowing their names, preferences, stories

  • Creates community with regulars and welcomes new guests of the brewery

  • Performs MOD pre-shift walk-through and ensures the tap room is kept clean and in good repair to Hospitality On 66 standards.

  • Takes inventory and places orders:

    • Draft and packaged beer

    • Wine, cider, non-alcoholic beverages

    • Tap Room supplies

    • Tap Room merchandise

  • Helps coordinate and execute Tap Room events

  • Monitors tap room speech and interactions for harassment and sexual violence

  • Uses ASBA Safer Bars training to curtail and de-escalate situations of harassment and sexual violence as an active bystander per Hospitality On 66 Employee and Guest Safety Protocol

  • Denies access to intoxicated persons, safely removing intoxicated guests


Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hospitality experience, 1+ year of supervisor experience

  • Arizona Title 4 Basic Certification

  • Coconino County Food Handler’s

  • ASBA Safer Bars Training

  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server


Required Abilities

  • Able to maneuver 165 lbs and team lift 165 lbs

  • Lift up to 35 lbs independently from floor, at waist level, and above waist

  • Able to stand for 10+ hours per day

  • Able to twist, crouch, bend, and stoop multiple times per day

  • Can understand and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and handle chemicals in a safe manner
