Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Immigration Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for immigration law and the ability to navigate complex legal issues while providing exceptional service to clients. This role requires a commitment to advocacy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Provide legal advice and representation to clients on immigration matters, including visas, green cards, asylum applications, and deportation defense.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis using tools such as Lexis-Nexis to stay updated on immigration laws and policies.
- Draft legal documents, including petitions, briefs, and motions with precision and attention to detail.
- Negotiate with government agencies and other parties on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case progress while ensuring confidentiality.
- Prepare clients for interviews with immigration authorities and represent them during these proceedings.
- Stay informed about changes in immigration law and policy that may affect clients.
Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in immigration law is preferred but not mandatory; recent graduates with relevant internships will be considered.
- Strong research skills with proficiency in legal drafting and writing.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
- Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Pay: $51,018.04-$112,077.44 per year
Expected hours: 20 – 55 per week

- Master's Degree (preferred)

- Immigration and Refugee Law: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- Certificate of Standing (preferred)
Work Location: Hybrid remote in North York, ON M2N 4S1
