Bakery Packaging Associate

Job Overview
Summary of Position:

Our Bakery Packaging Associates oversee the organizing, handling, finishing, and packaging of all bakery products. Our packaging team is crucial to the success of the bakery as it handles the last stages of our production process from cooling freshly baked products to organizing orders for shipment to our customers around Southeast Michigan and keeping our product at the market stocked and rotated - effectively following the first in, first out method.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Organization of order paperwork including pick slips and invoices
• Organization of bakery packaging area and equipment including cooling racks, speed racks, slicing equipment, delivery racks, boxes, and any other packaging materials.
• Determining when bakery products are ready to be finished, sliced, bagged, and packed for orders.
• Slicing and bagging loaf breads on a commercial bread slicing machine
• Slicing and bagging a variety of buns on a bun slicing machine.
• Finishing, glazing, and packaging scones, danish, cheesecakes, cookies, and other bakery products to complete retail and customer orders.
• Printing product labels for a variety of bakery products.
• Maintaining proper date / expiration marking on all bakery products.
• Stocking bakery retail shelves and rotating products to maintain freshness and product quality.
• Verifying all packed orders at the end of each shift to confirm accuracy and consistency.
• Completing / organizing necessary paperwork at the end of each shift.
• Communicating any discrepancies, product flaws, or packaging needs with management.
• Following all sanitation procedures and regulations as they relate to RTE product handling and personal hygiene.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• The ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Effective communication skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
• Must have the stamina to work 8-10 hour shifts, 3 days a week.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
