JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to interact with our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining and meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn. Banquet servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.

Banquet servers will follow through with the proper and timely set-up and execution of banquet events. Set up includes tables, chairs, dance floors and A/V equipment and facilities in an organized, clean, and safe environment. This is a unionized position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) at the beginning of each shift to ensure room are set as contracted. Confirm and setup A/V equipment needs to contract for the event.

· Prepare rooms for use; adjusting lights, sound volumes, and temperature as needed for before guests arrive.

· Be in communication with the lead catering staff regarding any special needs.

· Assist in ensuring that the events are on time. Make adjustments as needed and rely that information to the appropriate personnel.

· Pass any information that is needed to the next staff member on duty.

· Ensure proper use, storage and maintenance of all A/V and meeting room equipment.

· Ensure there is proper back up in the event that any equipment is not properly functioning.

· Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the catering department.

· If no upcoming events, please have rooms in a readiness position for any possible site inspections. Ensure that meeting rooms are re-set for next event contract if it is within two or three days of previous event.

· Keep inventory of all catering department equipment in order and stored in their appropriate areas.

· Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, replenishing utensils and refilling glasses or water pitchers.

· Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.

· Greet all guests and event planners warmly with an appropriate greeting.

· Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.

· Understands and can communicate products and services available at hotel.

· Maintain clear and open communication between all staff members for overall event success

· Follow Health and Safety practices at all times.

· Other tasks as required

QUALIFICATIONS

· GED or equivalent

· 2 years of experience in banquets preferred

· Must have Smart Serve and Food Handlers Certificates

· Must have strong customer service skills

· Speak with others using clear and professional language, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.

· Excellent organizational skills

· Attention to detail

· Flexibility with your availability depending on events scheduled

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
