Our Client
In this position, you will be assigned to our client located in Sydney. They are primarily focused on seeking out areas of social need and policy failure and making transformational change using research, design and technology.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Bookkeeper, you will ensure the seamless operation of our financial systems, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain our financial health. Your precision, problem-solving skills, and adaptability will play a vital role in supporting our team’s goals.
Finance Operations
- Maintain and update the General Ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Process payments, invoices, receipts, and expenses accurately and efficiently using accounting software (Xero).
- Reconcile bank accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support the preparation of financial reports, including cash flow statements, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.
- Help ensure compliance with Australian accounting and tax regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Payroll Management
- Process monthly and ad hoc payroll for our employees (50+) ensuring compliance with Australian payroll laws and regulations.
- Update and maintain payroll records, including changes in employee information, benefits, and deductions.
- Prepare payroll reports summarising earnings, deductions, and leave entitlements.
- Calculate payroll liabilities, including taxes and contributions, for both employees and employers.
- Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Collaboration and Support
- Communicate effectively with team members and our clients, providing accurate and timely financial data.
- Participate in financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
- Assist the broader Finance team with administrative and reporting duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-3+ years of experience in bookkeeping and payroll, with Australian clients.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and Google Suite (especially Google Sheets or equivalent).
- Knowledge of Australian accounting and tax compliance, including BAS and payroll regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify and solve issues independently.
