Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Building Permit Coordinator to join our clients team. This role is critical in ensuring the timely submission and approval of building permits for their low-rise residential projects in the Vaughan and Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The ideal candidate will have experience working with municipalities, coordinating permit applications, and reviewing architectural and engineering drawings as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, submit, and track building permit applications for various projects.
  • Liaise with municipal authorities, ensuring compliance with local building codes and zoning regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders to gather required documentation for permit submissions.
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings to confirm permit requirements are met.
  • Address and resolve permit deficiencies and comments from city officials in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of permit submissions, approvals, and project timelines.
  • Stay up to date with changes in municipal bylaws, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in other administrative and coordination tasks related to development and construction permits.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in building permit coordination, preferably in the residential construction industry.
  • Education: Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Architectural Technology, or a related field is an asset.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code (OBC), zoning bylaws, and municipal permit processes.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and permit submission platforms (e.g., Autocad, ePlans, City of Toronto's TLAB system) is an advantage.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to review drawings and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
