Position Purpose:
The function of the Calibration Technician is to calibrate vacuum gauges and leak standards. The Calibration Technician will be directly responsible for the timely completion of pressure (aka vacuum) calibrations, gas flow, and volume in a NIST traceable and A2LA-Accredited laboratory. A successful candidate will become an integral member of the VTI team and will take an active role in learning how to calibrate vacuum gauges, flow standards and volumes. You will take on and share the responsibilities of the other calibration lab staff members.
The following are principal duties of the Calibration Technician:
- Calibration of vacuum gauges to VTI and customer specifications in a fast-paced environment to support a 100% on-time delivery metric (Primary Role)
- Build and test calibrated leaks and volumes to VTI and customer specifications in a fast-paced environment to support a 100% on-time delivery metric (Secondary Support Role)
- Communicate with co-workers, calibration lab manager, and Orders Department, to report status of data and recommended repair services
- Follow VTI Quality Assurance Procedures for compliance with ISO17025
- Perform planned and unplanned maintenance on calibration stands
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Electronics or related degree, or 2 to 5 years of related field experience
- Proficiency with basic math skills, basic mechanical and electronic skills, including experience with digital multimeters
- Working knowledge of AC/DC circuits, with preferred experience in scaling transducer output (4-20 mA, 1-5V, etc.)
- Capable of soldering and building basic electrical cables
- Ability to learn and work with shop equipment (i.e. wire wheel, sandblaster, ultrasonic cleaner)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to multitask and work well with others
- Ability to lift and move about 30 lbs.
- Experience with vacuum systems a plus
- Experience with electronics troubleshooting a plus
Pay Rate and Benefits:

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
