Position: Catering Assistant
Location: Dun Laoghaire
Reporting to: CateringManager
Salary: €14.93
Hours: 37.5 hrs, Monday - Sunday (various five over seven)
Job Dimensions:
To liase with guests in a professional and courteous manner at all times ensuring their time is an enjoyable and memorable one.
To ensure all guests are dealt with in a timely manner.
To ensure that all food and beverages are served in a courteous and professional manner.
MAIN DUTIES:
- To have a full knowledge of food preparation and service requirements.
- To have a full and comprehensive understanding of the running of the canteen area, from preparation to presentation.
- To ensure that all guests orders and requests are dealt with in a correct and timely manner.
- To ensure the guests are informed about the location of canteen facilities within ISS control.
- To liaise with the kitchen regarding procedures, functions and all other requests when appropriate.
- To ensure the Canteen hygiene is maintained to a very high standard and care of all the catering and kitchen equipment.
- To ensure all revenue dockets are charged to the appropriate account and are fully up to date and correct on check out.
- To work in an organised and efficient manner at all times.
- To ensure that the canteen counter, floor and back area are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- To familiarise yourself with guests, on a daily basis.
- To ensure that food stock levels are always at an adequate level to deal with any groups or individual that may order from the Canteen.
- To make full use of function sheets, clock in/out machine, HACCP sheets, date use by labels any other relevant information.
- To ensure that the oncoming Catering Assistant is fully up to date with the status of the business.
- To ensure all daily reports are completed before the appointed time.
- To liaise with the Supervisor or appropriate personnel with regard to guest queries or problems and pass on any useful information about the guest.
- To take responsibility for the float whilst on duty and ensure all is in order before passing over to the next shift. (designated person)
- To promote a positive working atmosphere at all times.
- To be fully aware of, and to adhere to, fire precautions and fire evacuation procedures.
- To wear the correct uniform at all times, including footwear, and to adhere to the dress and appearance standards as set out in the staff handbook.
- To participate fully in training provided by the company.
- To assist with any reasonable duties as directed by a supervisor or manager.
- To help the fellow team members in the other canteen arears when needed (pot wash, plate wash, coffee dock, deli, counter service, tills)
- To have full knowledge of cash handling and use of electronic point of sale (till system).
- To adhere to stock controls and follow stock rotation.
1 Practical:
- Ensure high standard of cleaning as directed by supervisor in the dining/catering areas.
- Promote a high standard of customer service to Client employees
- Use of cleaning and catering equipment
- Care of equipment
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and service requirements
2 Customer Relations
- Encourage good relations with all clients on contract site
- Promptly deal with any queries or complaints
- Promote ISS Ireland
3 Training
- Part take in induction training for new staff
- Part take in ongoing training from ISS internal or external training departments
- Cooperate with safe working practices (manual handling/safe use of chemicals etc)
- Adhere to all training in relation to food hygiene and cleaning to promote the highest standard of safety and hygiene awareness
- Follow all guidelines and training given to you by the supervisor/ trainer at all times in the food environment.
HSEQ:
- Ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed on site
- Use of Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment (w/a)
- Understand how ISO fits into daily business operations
- Read, understand and work in accordance with the company’s HSEQ Policies
- Complete tasks in accordance with company HSEQ procedures and work instructions
Other features of the job
It may be necessary to work alternative hours, shift patterns or unsociable hours, including weekends and sometimes more than contracted hours. As part of your job, you will be expected to attend training events and/or meetings and travel to other locations may be required. Local requirements will govern your patterns and locations of work.
