Chemical Waste Supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities

· Responsible for ensuring the safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials/waste in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

· Managing team member(s) and productivity to evaluate performance and offer feedback.

· Assign daily duties to team member(s) to ensure critical duties are completed.

· Oversee employees to ensure they are performing work safely, including using the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and have completed the required safety training.

· Ensure employees have a safe work environment by coordinating and directing the company’s safety initiatives.

Operations Responsibilities

· Require strong mechanical aptitude, which can include skills such as visual-spatial relations, general mechanical reasoning, and ability to use hand tools.

· Physical exertion maybe required to perform critical tasks in support of critical job functions, for example - sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

· Move waste and other materials around site using forklifts and loading devices.

· Load bulk waste and hazardous materials onto tanker trailer operating loading equipment, hoses, and monitoring movement of material from storage tank

· Load palletized drums, totes and other containerized materials onto box trailer.

· Maintains master schedule to establish sequence and lead-time of waste operations to coordinate and meet shipping dates with vendors.

· Demonstrate professionalism by taking on responsibility, showing commitment, through communication skills and being punctual.

· Package and prepare shipping papers to ship limited volume chemicals through commercial carriers under Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transport Association (IATA)

· Assist with maintaining waste inventories, classification, segregation, packaging, marking, and labeling, identification of unknowns, arranging for transportation, site approvals, manifesting, and all other regulatory paperwork.

· Prepares and keeps records of waste and hazardous materials shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading.

· Responsible for responding to work needs outside of their regular work hours, such as during emergencies, maintenance issues

· Monitor, maintain, and control equipment for bulk waste collection systems and treatment systems.

· Assist in the cleanup of hazardous material spills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
