Chief Executive Officer

Overview
The New Brunswick Pharmacy Association (NBPA) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization . As the leader of the Association, you will be responsible for implementing the strategic plan, driving operational excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and cooperation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of NBPA and make a significant impact on healthcare in New Brunswick.

The priorities for a new CEO are:

· Implementing the strategic plan approved by the Board of Directors.

· Inspiring, leading and engaging a strong team to achieve planned goals and objectives.

· Advocating with government for optimal use of pharmacy professionals and the integration of pharmacy into primary care, including fair reimbursement.

· Advocating with government and others to make New Brunswick an attractive destination for pharmacy professionals, helping to ensure the sustainability of the profession.

· Promoting the role of pharmacy with the public to raise awareness and demand for pharmacy services.

· Growing membership with a strong value proposition, with strengthened engagement and communications.

· Bringing together diverse stakeholders to support the priorities of the strategic plan, ensuring both professional and business interests are aligned creating a “united” voice within the province.

· Establishing strong working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, members, government officials, RHA officials, other healthcare organizations and other pharmacy associations.

· Advising and supporting the Board of Directors and its committees.

· Championing the NBPA, its members and strategic priorities with other healthcare professionals, the public, and government in evolving healthcare service delivery through the optimal use of the profession of pharmacy for the benefit of New Brunswickers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to any duties that may be assigned by the Board from time to time, the CEO is responsible to:

1. Leadership

a. Support the development and implementation of the Board of Directors’ Strategic plan and ensure proper and timely reporting on progress made towards the plan is provided;

b. Foster effective teamwork between the Board of Directors and the CEO and between the CEO and staff;

c. Participate actively in all Board of Director and committee meetings and act as Secretary to the Board of Directors;

d. Support the Board in meeting its governance responsibilities and compliance with laws and regulations;

e. Represent the Association with external stakeholders and at external events.

2. Association Management

a. Oversee the operation of the Association and manage compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;

b. Develop and implement an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that support the Strategic Plan;

c. Manage human resources – establish and implement employee compensation, evaluation and benefits, and the hiring and release of Association employees (except for themselves) in accordance with Association policies and budgets;

d. Ensure employment development and training, employee relations and Association policy development and documentation are maintained in accordance with all legal requirements;

e. Manage and promote the Association culture as a member driven organization, and to ensure that operates consistently with the Association’s Vision, Mission and Values;

f. Facilitate the development, implementation, and promotion of a culture of integrity at the workplace; enhance employee engagement and retention;

g. Oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of quality services, programs and supports for members of the Association aligned with the Vision and Mission of the Association.

3. Advocacy, Public and External Relations

a. Act as the lead spokesperson for the Association in collaboration with the Board Chair as per NBPA policy;

b. Advocate for the profession of pharmacy, including fair compensation;

c. Advocate and collaborate with Government to develop and implement community-based pharmacy services and to further integrate pharmacy into the New Brunswick healthcare system;

d. Develop and deliver effective and timely advocacy, communication, and public relations plans to support the Strategic plan;

e. Maintain effective communications with members, other healthcare practitioners and stakeholders (including health authorities) and the public;

f. Position NBPA as a key opinion leader related to drug therapies and drug therapy management to the media and other stakeholders.

4. Financial and Risk Management

a. Recommend a yearly budget for Board approval;

b. Manage the Association’s resources within budget, policy and guidelines and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations;

c. Oversee the financial and investment functions of the Association in accordance with the Association’s By-laws and policies;

Identify and evaluate risks to NBPA and the profession and takes step to mitigate those risks as appropriate.

Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you bring an established track record in senior leadership and advocacy roles, ideally with experience within a member-based organization. In depth experience with pharmacy is not required, however you should understand the New Brunswick healthcare system and have a desire to expand your understanding through learning and immersion into pharmacy’s priorities, issues, opportunities and concerns.

As a strong communicator, you can foster and sustain relationships with members, pharmacy and healthcare stakeholders and Governments. You excel at being a spokesperson and effectively communicating messages to a variety of audiences.

As a confident and compassionate leader, you can motivate, recruit, develop and retain passionate and diverse team members. You have strong financial acumen and knowledge of the not-for-profit sector.

Candidates must be dedicated to advancing the Vision, Mission and Values of NBPA and demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Graduate degrees such as law or other relevant fields are considered an asset but are not required.

In addition, candidates should have the following:

· Well developed leadership skills;

· A university graduate degree or a suitable combination of an undergraduate university degree and relevant experience;

· Management experience working with a Board of Directors and committees, with at least 5 years at a senior level, preferably from the healthcare not for profit sector. Relevant private and public sector experience will also be considered;

· Demonstrated experience in advocacy and negotiations;

· Proven success in inspiring, motivating and leading employees;

· Demonstrated success in building partnerships, alliances, and productive working relationships;

· Proven success in bringing diverse interests together to advance an organizations vision, mission and strategic priorities;

· Genuine interest in improving the healthcare system and affinity for the pharmacy profession;

· Leadership skills -the integrity/credibility/ability to win trust; the ability to rally others around a common cause and the ability to deliver results;

· Strategic purpose and nimbleness – open-minded thinker with the ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments;

· Excellent communication skills;

· Excellent engagement, networking and facilitation skills;

· Strong operational and organizational skills;

· Innovative and creative thinking; and

· Willingness to work in a flexible schedule and travel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $170,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
