Heritage Family Services is currently hiring an experienced Team Lead for our child and youth care workers for the stabilization and secure program in Red Deer. We’re looking for a reliable and compassionate leader who can guide a team in providing trauma-informed care to youth in a secure and stabilization setting.
About the Role:
As a Team Lead, you’ll support both staff and youth in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. You’ll lead by example, offer coaching and guidance, and help implement youth-centered programs that promote personal growth and emotional stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Build strong, trusting relationships with youth while promoting individuality
Follow safety protocols and help maintain a calm, stable emotional environment
Lead the shift team, offering coaching, mentorship, and hands-on support
Support daily routines, structured programming, and life skills development
Participate in meal preparation and daily household tasks
Advocate for the rights and needs of each youth
Encourage youth empowerment and emotional well-being
Assist youth with personal development including communication, behavior regulation, and decision-making
What You Bring:
A 2-year diploma in Human Services (or related field)
3+ years of experience working directly with children or youth in care
Must be 18 years or older
A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, Child Intervention Check, Class 5 Driver’s License, and a clean Driver’s Abstract (fewer than 6 demerits)
Strong skills in therapeutic approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
Knowledge of child development, trauma, grief, and loss
Understanding of culturally appropriate care, especially in relation to Indigenous traditions and beliefs
Commitment to inclusive practices and respectful communication with diverse identities and backgrounds
Ability to collaborate with a team and work cross-culturally with marginalized groups

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months
Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver’s License
A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months
Copy of education listed in resume.
