About You

You are a professional estimator in every way. Ideally, you have a stable work history as an estimator combined with a post-secondary education in a recognized civil technologist or related program.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must demonstrate significant experience estimating civil projects, including recent experience with takeoffs using relevant estimating software.

The Position

We are seeking a skilled Senior Civil Construction Estimator to join our talented team. The Estimator will play a critical role in analyzing project specifications, conducting site visits, and preparing accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical skills, and a keen attention to detail. You will also be tasked with certain project management duties as you grow into the role.

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope of work.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, existing conditions, and potential challenges.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
  • Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs to develop comprehensive project estimates.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to create detailed cost breakdowns and proposals.
  • Identify and quantify potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project.
  • Prepare and present cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages to clients and stakeholders.
  • Participate in bid meetings, negotiations, and value engineering sessions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, including cost data, bid documents, and correspondence.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and profitable bidding.
  • Provide support during project execution by assisting with cost tracking, change order management, and contract administration.
  • Collaborate with the project team to optimize project delivery and achieve cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or a combination of experience and education.
  • Proven experience as a Civil Construction Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with construction software such as Bluebeam Revu, Procore, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to perform complex calculations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating and documentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate and mitigate project risks.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, codes, and standards related to civil construction projects.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar credentials are a plus.
  • Have a valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to job sites as and when required throughout our operating area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
