The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will perform all STAT and routine test procedures in Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry and Limited Microbiology Departments. The duties are divided across the three sections department upon staffing levels, prior experience, and workload.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Graduation from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate scientific field
- Possession of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist License – GENERALIST CLS issued by the California State Department of Health; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position
- Recent experience performing clinical lab testing in Blood Bank/Transfusion Service, Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center Clinical Laboratory locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a high-volume laboratory doing clinical laboratory testing
- Experience with current automation and instrumentation used in a clinical laboratory
- Recent experience in Transfusion services
License/Certification
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist CLS) license only
