The Part You will Play – Role Summary:

There is a need for a new, commercially minded role within the Finance department due to continued growth and expansion. A key function of the team is to support the global sales departments in winning new business, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and reporting the overall performance of the company. A sales-focused mind-set together with strong accounting knowledge is a pre-requisite for this role.


The person will either take a leading or supporting role in ensuring the commercial and client-facing departments have everything they need from a shared service perspective to best serve our customers. This is an exciting role with a very rewarding level of responsibility.


Essential Functions & Role Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in maintaining price lists, tracking competitor information, managing the pricing committee.
  • Commercial support for finance input into tender responses, help with pricing questions/quotations, preparing and reviewing commercial contract terms and assisting to price deals.
  • Review internal accounting reporting and ensure proper application of our revenue recognition policies.
  • Take an active role in managing key supplier relationships and reporting.
  • Work with the broader team on aspects of the monthly reporting.
  • Assist in the implementation of a Certinia ERP system (previously FinancialForce and built on the SalesForce platform).
  • Manage the global insurance policies and renewals required by our contracts.
  • Support ongoing complex corporate planning and tax strategy initiatives.
  • Participating, as required, in Finance process, system and other projects, working closely with the Director of Finance & Analytics and the Senior Finance Manager.

Critical Success Factors - Knowledge & Experience:

  • An excellent understanding of commercial sales contracts and how they relate to revenue recognition.
  • Software pricing methodologies and how they impact on revenue and financial performance.
  • Broad accounting skills and knowledge from across a busy finance function.
  • A good grounding in the overall finance function for a company with global operations, as the role touches on different areas: monthly reporting (FRS102 and IFRS), company secretarial and tax planning.
  • Understanding and managing global group structure.

  • Good interpersonal skills, strong communicator. Comfortable working with external advisors and other departments as needed. Ability to foster good working relationships with other departments and team leaders.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and possess good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Resourceful and works constructively with a team.

Education, Training & Experience Required:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with 5-10 years PQE.
  • Senior position within a global accounting team with significant experience supporting sales teams is essential. Familiarity with managing and supporting entities in several geographies is an advantage.
  • Comfortable using an ERP (MS NAV, FinancialForce preferably).
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Exposure to CRM systems (HubSpot preferably) to source contract and revenue data.
  • Data visualization and building dashboards experience (Tableau) would be useful but not essential.
