Duties
- Lead the preparation and presentation of comprehensive financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Oversee all accounting functions such as general ledger management, account reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and double-entry bookkeeping processes.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, cash management strategies, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements relevant to non-profit, governmental, or public accounting sectors.
- Supervise internal controls development and implementation to safeguard organizational assets while maintaining transparency in financial practices.
- Coordinate external audits, regulatory reporting, and tax filings with auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Drive budgeting processes, financial analysis, variance analysis, and strategic planning initiatives to support organizational growth and sustainability.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and maintenance of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms to streamline financial operations.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial policies that promote best practices in corporate governance and fiscal responsibility.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior financial leadership roles such as Controller or Director of Finance within non-profit or governmental organizations preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting standards including GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance requirements, and technical accounting concepts.
- Strong background in public accounting or corporate accounting with expertise in account reconciliation, balance sheet management, accounts payable/receivable processing, payroll administration, and general ledger accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial systems using software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or equivalent financial management tools.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately for reporting and decision-making purposes.
- Excellent communication skills for preparing detailed financial reports and explaining complex concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting standards such as fund accounting or grant management is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of internal controls related to cash management, regulatory reporting requirements, and audit procedures. Pay: $106.00 - $160.00 per hour
