Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Captain, Adult Institutions (AI), this position is responsible for maintaining order and security within the facility and upholding the rules and regulations of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in general, as well as the rules and policies of the California Men’s Colony. Adjudicate incarcerated person rule infractions. Respond, monitor and audit the incarcerated person Grievance process. Supervise and train employees determining training needs and evaluating results. Monitor the integrity of the activities in your area of responsibility. Conduct audits pertaining to safety and security of the institution. Counsel and direct incarcerated persons while understanding the attitudes, problems and behavior of persons under restraints. Plan, administer, direct and evaluate operational directives. Advise supervisor or implement changes in procedure as necessary. Update post orders. Investigate, interview and document misconduct of incarcerated persons or employees. Ensure compliance with D.O.M. and Unit 6 contracts respectively. Ensure sanitation, health and safety standards of this facility by conducting inspections and initiating corrective actions. Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
