Cost Accountant

Overview
The Cost Accountant participates in product costing and assists with physical inventory data input support. The position provides recommendations to help improve accuracy and reliability of costs. The cost account reports to the Cost Accounting Supervisor.

Duties

• Sets up new FG items in the system for blades and bits
• Creates and maintains product BOMs for blades and bits
• Works with Process Engineering and Manufacturing lead personnel to determine BOM structures
• Performs miscellaneous cost projects as needed
• Estimates cost and price for customer inquiries
• Provides pricing for non-catalog items
• Interacts with Customer Service on a daily basis to provide information needed for customer orders
• Interacts with the IT Department to create new cost reports and to modify existing cost reports
• Assists with the implementation of the new software cost system
• Interacts with the public auditors to help insure a timely and accurate year-end audit
• Performs other duties as needed

Education and Experience

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and high confidence in stating professional opinions
• Intermediate to Advanced Excel knowledge and capabilities
• Proficient in MS Office Programs
• Well organized, strong accuracy, and detail-oriented
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data
