COST ACCOUNTANT
The Cost Accountant is responsible for all the cost accounting operations of the company. This includes coordination with Operations for new product’s BOM and standard cost set-up, analyzing purchase price and other manufacturing variances and overhead absorption, preparing the excess and obsolete reserve analysis and participation in the monthly close process through the preparation of general ledger journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules. This role is hands-on.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for all cost accounting related activities: month end close (journal entries and corresponding account reconciliations), overhead absorption, inventory reconciliations, and mfg. variances tracking and monitoring.
- Analyze PPV, record the standard cost changes and capitalized variances.
- Work closely with AP to review the assembly and testing price variance.
- Prepare the quarterly OH forecast and analysis, change the OH rate in NetSuite.
- Maintain standard cost based on FIFO, change the standard cost as necessary. Prepare quarterly standard cost version in NetSuite.
- Responsible for quarterly E&O inventory reserve analysis and warranty reserve analysis.
- Accrue quarterly inventory cost and sub-contractor assembly and testing cost.
- Perform monthly sub-contractor inventory reconciliation, coordinate the annual physical inventory count and reconciliations.
- Reconcile perpetual inventory to the GL.
- Coordinate with Operations for new product’s BOM and standard cost set up.
- Responsible for overseeing inventory movements and ensuring the costs are appropriately monitored and captured.
- Prepare the monthly gross margin analysis.
- Interface with the SOX internal auditors for internal control matrix testing.
- Interface with independent auditor and prepare supporting documentation for the year-end financial audit and the quarterly reviews.
- Look for opportunities to automate and improve cost accounting processes.
- Perform ad-hoc requests.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ plus years of prior experience in a semiconductor industry cost accounting.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Excel including pivot tables and vlookups.
- NetSuite experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented, highly analytical, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter, proactive and organized with an ability to work well with others but also to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
