$15,000 Sign on Bonus for experienced CT Tech
The CT Tech specializes in computed tomography and performs diagnostic procedures utilizing radiation detection and imaging equipment. CT Techs provide quality care to patients of all age groups, from newborn to elderly, according to department standards.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral Functions:
- Produces high quality diagnostic radiographs, by selecting and operating appropriate radiographic equipment and C.T. images, utilizing a C. T. scanner and computed tomography techniques
- Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and procedure is recorded.
- Assists practitioner with fluoroscopy and the advanced scope of practice in C.T. by being registered with the ARRT.
- Practices aseptic techniques as necessary. Understand methods of venipuncture and other sterile techniques, in agreement with state statues and/or where institutional policy permits, prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Assumes responsibility for assigned areas, quality control of equipment and reports equipment malfunctions, use of computing, digital imaging processing concepts and instrumentation to 3D concepts.
Department/Business Unit Functions:
- Provides radiation safety to minimize exposure to patient, patient’s family, by following policies and procedures of the Medical Imaging department, federal and state agencies.
- Provides communication to patient for instructions and history in order to obtain desired results, by gaining cooperation and minimizing anxiety
- Assumes responsibility for provision of physical safety and psychological needs of the patient during procedures
- Processes, displays, records and stores C.T. images
- Provides practical instruction, evaluation and precepting for students and/or other healthcare professionals
- Evaluates the perception and understanding of sectional anatomical images as they relate to C.T.
- Communicates to radiologist potentials for successful outcomes after evaluation of medical history, reactions and evaluation of lab values
- Implements protective measures to prevent patient injury due to thermal, electrical, mechanical, laser, chemical and radiation sources
- Initiates anecdotal, incident, contrast agent variance and accident reports in a timely manner.
- Processes and files films as needed utilizing RIS and PAC’s
- Schedules and transports patients as needed
- Assumes responsibility for portions of Quality Assurance
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively.
- Maintains safe environment
- Addresses patient population-specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of Imaging Technology
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 0-1 year with competency in components of computerized tomography.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of the current Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), in Radiology and C.T. documentation of approved training or possession of current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license. Must have ARRT &CT Registry within one year post graduation from accredited school.
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
