Dairy Farm Assistant

Applicants must meet the following requirements as per the employer’s guidelines:

• Applicants should be physically fit and open to learning.
• Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and have a clean criminal record.
• No prior experience in the dairy industry or pasture-based farming is required for this entry-level role, as the employer is willing to offer the necessary training.

A minimum of 30 hours per week is guaranteed

Accommodation on site is provided, will be shared or non shared depending on availability at time of placement

Key Responsibilities

Feed & Pasture Management

• Help plan and manage animal feeding.
• Assist with weed and pest control to protect pastures and crops.
• Apply fertiliser and help with irrigation when needed.

Milking

• Support all aspects of the milking process.
• Maintain clean milking equipment and ensure milk quality meets required standards (e.g., low somatic cell count).

Effluent Management

• Operate and maintain the effluent system in line with council regulations and farm policies.
• Keep accurate records and know how to respond to any issues.

Animal Care

• Follow animal health plans to keep the herd in good condition.
• Help with calving, calf rearing, and winter care.
• Report sick or injured animals to the Farm Manager.
• Keep herd records up to date.

Farm Maintenance & Business Support

• Work with the Farm Manager to support farm planning and goals.
• Help with basic repairs and maintenance of equipment and buildings.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Health & Safety

• Follow all health and safety rules on the farm.
• Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Environmental Care

• Support sustainable farming by following environmental best practices.
