Development Coordinator (Part-time)
Legal Assistance to the Elderly (LAE) seeks an enthusiastic and compassionate Development Associate to join the Development Team at Legal Assistance the Elderly. This is a part-time, 20-hours per week position. For over 45 years, LAE has provided free legal advice and representation to San Francisco’s seniors and adults with disabilities. Our mission is to protect and advance the right of San Francisco’s seniors and adults with disabilities to be housed, healthy, financially stable, and safe. Our primary practice areas are Eviction Defense/Housing Preservation, Income Support, Health Law, Financial and Physical Elder Abuse Prevention, Debt Collection Defense, Foreclosure Prevention, End of Life Planning and Conservatorship Defense. LAE is a friendly and collaborative work environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and/or minimum associate degree required
- Administrative experience, including proficient to intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and other common computer programs
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Well-organized, highly motivated, and creative problem-solver
- Able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Able to work on several projects simultaneously, and handle high volume of activity
- Patient, flexible & kind
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
- Fluency in English and Cantonese, Mandarin or Spanish
- Two or more years of experience working in an administrative position
- Experience with Salesforce or similar Donor Database Systems, Canva, email services like MailChimp
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
General Purpose: To provide development and fundraising support to the Development Team and will work closely with LAE’s Development Director
Development Operations Responsibilities:
Gifts Tracking and Acknowledgment:
- Maintain accurate records of all donations in the donor database.
- Generate timely and personalized acknowledgment letters and receipts for donors and funders.
- Ensure compliance with all gift processing and acknowledgment procedures.
Database Management:
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of donor information in the database.
- Implement data hygiene practices to maintain up-to-date records.
Event Logistics Support:
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, including annual galas, donor receptions, and community outreach events.
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue setup, vendor management, and volunteer coordination.
- Support the creation of event materials, such as invitations, programs, and signage.
Communications Coordination:
- Coordinate the development and distribution of donor communications, including newsletters, annual reports, and impact stories.
- Maintain and update the organization’s social media channels with relevant and engaging content.
- Assist in drafting and proofreading fundraising appeals and other development-related communications.
Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to our Development Director and other team members, including the Executive Director, as needed within capacity.
- Assist the Development Director with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Manage development-related correspondence and documentation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a part-time (20 hrs./week), non-union position. While it is a hybrid position, you will be required to work in the office. Some evening and weekend work are required, though infrequently.
COMPENSATION
We offer a family-friendly environment and compensation based on competitive public interest salaries. While this is a non-union position, the salary will be based on the union scale. The estimated hourly rate range starts at $35.38-$38.97 (placement in the range determined by union scale primarily based on years of related experience). This position's benefits include: 403(b) retirement plan with annual LAE contribution, sick leave, 20 holidays each year, and vacation (starting at 17 days and increasing with additional years of employment).
