The Director Innovation DBSL for Project Excellence is responsible for promoting and leading implementation of the Danaher Business System (DBS) along the Cepheid Innovation Workstream, from product definition through project execution. This position will be responsible for working with associates and teams based in Sunnyvale. They will be results-driven with a strong and proven ability to partner with project management leaders and project teams to identify valuable problems, manage change, and drive impact using DBS tools.

The position is part of the DBS (Danaher Business System) Organization and will report to the Senior Director Global Innovation DBSL. They will be accountable for core growth from innovation by collaborating with senior innovation leaders and project teams on the implementation and sustainment of continuous improvements of critical business processes. Their goal is to improve performance on the Innovation Equation with a specific emphasis on the on-time delivery (OTD) of new product development projects. They are responsible for participating in and improving the quality of the Cepheid Certified Practitioner (CP) community, growing the community in a specific tool or increasing a given tool capacity in alignment with business needs. At Cepheid, we focus on delivering a Better Way to improve patient outcomes by enabling access to molecular diagnostic testing everywhere.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Partner with senior leaders and project teams to leverage DBS to deliver annual OTD objectives, new product development key performance indicators (KPIs), and project level KPIs. This includes the installation and sustainment of high-quality daily management (DM), visual project management (VPM) and problem-solving process (PSP).
• Partner with functional and project leads on the kaizen process including kaizen funnel development, prioritization, resourcing, activation, and execution. Ensure effective sustainment of results and support problem solving as needed to close gaps to targets.
• Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. Augment with additional resources (DBSO, outside resources) where applicable, and improve DBS training and facilitation by pursuing certification in DBS tools for yourself and others, including managing a funnel of experts.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years’ experience as practitioner in Project Management, Science or Engineering with DBS or similar experience in continuous improvement environments (DBS, Lean Six Sigma, TPS, Kaizen, etc.).
• Proven ability to consistently deliver results while influencing leaders without authority. Including but not limited to coaching leaders at different altitudes while driving change and leveraging change management best practices.
• Proven ability to thoughtfully apply DBS Fundamentals and Innovation Growth Tools to Innovation or NPD activities and teams to drive growth.

I would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• 5+ years at Danaher or a sister company with a passion for DBS and experience in applying DBS principles to new product development – ideally in more than one operating company.
• Installing and / or facilitating visual project management, program management, portfolio planning groups (PPG), roadmaps and resource models.
• Participating in the use of Strategic tools such as Strat Planning and Strategic Innovation Review.

The salary range for this role is $170,000-215,000,this is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
