Director Of Engineering & Facilities Maintenance

The Director of Engineering & Facilities Maintenance oversees all aspects of the resort’s engineering, maintenance, and sustainability operations. This role ensures the safety, functionality, and efficiency of the hotel, residential condominiums, pools, and wastewater treatment plant, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The Director provides strategic leadership for capital projects, preventive maintenance, energy management, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction and owner confidence through a well-maintained property.

What You'll Do:

Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering and facilities team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.
  • Oversee departmental budgets, staffing, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Skilled in budgeting, revenue management, and cost control to drive resort profitability.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly conveys expectations and builds strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Foster collaboration and a positive team environment to support organizational success.
  • Lead by example with initiative, strategic thinking, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Bring innovative, timely solutions with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Uphold high ethical standards, transparency, and accountability in all operations.

Facilities Operations

  • Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of all hotel, condominium, pool, and back-of-house systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, elevators, life-safety, etc.).
  • Direct preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Manage building automation systems and implement energy-saving initiatives.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Oversight

  • Ensure proper operation, monitoring, and compliance of the resort’s wastewater treatment plant.
  • Supervise licensed operators and coordinate with local environmental authorities to meet or exceed EPA standards.

Project & Capital Management

  • Plan, budget, and oversee capital improvement projects and renovations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project delivery.

Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, fire/life safety codes, and local government regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure proper record-keeping for audits and certifications.

Guest & Resident Experience

  • Ensure quick response to guest and resident service requests related to maintenance issues.
  • Partner with Front Office, Housekeeping, and Residential Services to maintain seamless communication and operational efficiency.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of engineering/facilities leadership experience in a large hotel, resort, or mixed-use property.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Experience managing large teams, budgets, and capital projects.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Engineering Operations Executive, Facilities Management Professional, Wastewater Certification) highly desirable.
