Our programs include Residential Therapeutic Foster Care, Transitional Living Programs, Independence Readiness, Haven Family Counseling Services, and Animal-Assisted Healing. Position Summary

The Director of Finance provides financial leadership for Boys & Girls Haven and is responsible for the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination. This role partners closely with the CEO, leadership team, and Board of Directors to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial information across programs and funding sources.

The Director of Finance oversees financial operations within NetSuite, supports billing and funding operations tied to clinical and food services programs, and ensures financial systems and reporting remain aligned with contractual, eligibility, and regulatory requirements. This role carries significant responsibility for financial integrity, compliance, and organizational stability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Oversee monthly and year-end financial statements, general ledger activity, and financial reporting

  • Lead annual operating and capital budgeting and provide variance analysis and financial guidance

  • Manage cash flow and support long-term financial planning

  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready financial systems

  • Meet regularly with directors to review financial performance and support informed decision-making

Grants and Restricted Funding

  • Track and report on grant and restricted funds in NetSuite, including setup, reconciliation, and balance monitoring

  • Provide internal grant financial reporting and audit support to ensure clarity and accuracy

Billing and Funding Operations

  • Provide financial oversight for billing and funding operations, including clinical billing and food services funding programs

  • Ensure financial reporting aligns with eligibility rules, contracts, and funding requirements

  • Monitor for changes in billing or funding requirements and ensure systems and processes remain compliant

Audit, Tax, and Compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the annual financial audit

  • Oversee employer tax reporting and year-end compliance

  • Ensure appropriate alignment between financial and HR/pay systems to support accurate reporting

Supervision

  • Provide direction and support to a finance support position responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing support

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required

  • MBA or CPA preferred

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment

  • Demonstrated experience serving as a senior financial leader with responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and stewardship of financial operations and reporting

  • Experience supporting audits and working with restricted or contract-based funding

  • Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or similar financial systems

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and staff

  • Comfortable operating in a lean environment where financial decisions and judgment have a direct impact on organizational stability and mission delivery
