Summary:
The Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships is responsible for leading and growing fundraising efforts for HopeTree Family Services through strategic relationship-building with individual donors, churches, and corporate partners. This role oversees donor cultivation, engagement, and retention, while also developing new partnerships across Virginia to expand the organization’s impact and revenue. The Director plans and executes fundraising events, creates targeted donor strategies, and ensures all communications—meetings, calls, emails, and written outreach—strengthen partnerships and increase support.
Working closely with the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, this position develops and implements annual fundraising plans, tracks performance using data and KPIs, and identifies new opportunities for growth. The Director also represents the organization in community, church, and business settings, including participation in statewide events and affiliations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, marketing, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of successful leadership experience in fundraising and event planning required. Strong experience with donor relations, campaign management, and data-driven decision-making is essential. Experience with faith-based organizations or church partnerships is preferred. Must have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, the ability to present to diverse audiences, and willingness to travel throughout Virginia up to 50–75% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising and development plan with clear goals, timelines, and performance metrics
- Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with individual donors, churches, corporate partners, and community stakeholders
- Plan, manage, and execute fundraising events, including securing sponsors and maximizing revenue opportunities
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to expand the donor base across Virginia
- Create and deliver personalized donor communications and engagement strategies
- Track, analyze, and report on fundraising performance using data, analytics, and KPIs
- Ensure accurate documentation of donor interactions, contributions, and acknowledgments in fundraising systems
- Represent the organization at community events, churches, business functions, and statewide meetings
- Collaborate with internal teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and mission
- Prepare and present regular reports on fundraising progress, outcomes, and growth opportunities
- Supervise and support team members to ensure effective and mission-aligned performance
- Assist with compliance reporting and maintain relationships with key external organizations and associations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Pay: $67,496.00 - $72,000.00 per year
