Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Disability Support Worker – Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) to join our team. In this role, you will provide hands-on, person-centered care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily activities, personal care, and healthcare needs. You will also work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal care and well-being for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to individuals with disabilities, focusing on their personal care needs, medication management, and health monitoring.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and record clients' health and well-being, providing reports and updates to the healthcare team as needed.
- Administer medications and ensure proper documentation, following organizational policies and procedures.
- Support clients with mental health needs, promoting positive behavior and using de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Work closely with families, carers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic, person-centered approach to care.
- Promote independence and participation in activities of daily living, fostering a sense of autonomy and dignity.
- Comply with relevant legal, ethical, and organizational standards in all aspects of care delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) qualification with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, or related healthcare settings is highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of person-centered care principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain).
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting people with disabilities.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Disability Discrimination Act and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) standards.
