Roche fosters diversity, equity and inclusion, representing the communities we serve. When dealing with healthcare on a global scale, diversity is an essential ingredient to success. We believe that inclusion is key to understanding people’s varied healthcare needs. Together, we embrace individuality and share a passion for exceptional care. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.
In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.
Who we are:
This position is located in the Predictive Modeling chapter, within the Pharmaceutical Sciences function, where Disease Modeling (DM) is a primary focus area.
The DM capability is acknowledged as a group of experts in mechanistic modeling, in combining advanced analytics methods (e.g. modeling and machine learning) and in integrating new types of data in our modeling (e.g. -omics, imaging, digital markers, organoids, real-world data). We apply our skills and approaches to projects across all disease therapeutics areas (DTAs) from early to late stage. We build on the strength of being able to integrate pathophysiological and patient disease information into actionable models, thereby informing clinical decisions through heavy use of clinical trial simulations that investigate wide ranges of what-if scenarios.
DM supports the build up of modeling skills in Functions & DTAs by providing relevant training and support to scientists and continues to promote the importance of modeling & simulation for pRED and Roche.
The opportunity:
The objective of this internship is to evaluate the effects of modulating (e.g. inhibiting) a specific biological target by leveraging, improving, and implementing existing pathway models that characterize the target’s activity. These models, typically composed of systems of ordinary differential equations, will serve as the foundation for understanding dynamic behavior under various conditions. To accomplish this, the intern will comprehensively integrate information from various knowledge sources, including public literature as well as Roche’s proprietary preclinical and clinical data.
Who you are:
You are a Bachelor’s, Master's or PhD student specializing in computational biology, applied mathematics, or physics, with a focus on systems biology
You have strong programming skills in Matlab, R, Python, and/or Julia
You possess excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
You are a team player with strong communication skills, a focused work style, and a results-driven mindset
Your complete application includes the following documents:
A Current CV and a Motivation Letter
A certificate of enrollment (if you are currently studying). If you want to use this opportunity to do a Master’s or Diploma thesis, please highlight this in your application
For Non-EU/EFTA citizens: Due to regulations, you must provide a certificate issued by your university stating that an Internship is mandatory for your studies
