The Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Duty Manager to join our management team and play a central role in the day-to-day running of the hotel. With a strong Food & Beverage focus, you will oversee operations across the restaurant, bar, lounge, banqueting, and events spaces, while also acting as the senior point of contact for guests and staff across all departments during your shifts.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident, guest-focused operator who thrives on the floor, leads from the front, and takes genuine pride in delivering memorable hospitality. You will work closely with the General Manager and senior team to drive standards, develop the team, and contribute to the continued growth of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
· Take full responsibility for the smooth running of the hotel during your shifts, acting as the senior decision-maker on the floor
· Oversee daily F&B operations across the restaurant, bar, lounge, and function spaces, ensuring consistently high standards of service and presentation
· Lead, motivate, and develop the front-of-house team, setting the tone and standard during service
· Supervise banqueting, weddings, and events from setup through to execution, working closely with the kitchen and events team
· Act as the main point of contact for guests, handling queries, requests, and complaints professionally and efficiently
· Conduct check-ins, check-outs, and reception cover as required, supporting the front office team during busy periods
· Drive revenue through upselling, attention to detail, and maintaining high service standards across all outlets
· Manage cash handling, floats, end-of-day reporting, and shift handovers in line with hotel procedures
· Ensure full compliance with HACCP, health & safety, licensing, fire safety, and all relevant regulations
· Carry out opening and closing duties, security checks, and walk-arounds of the property
· Support recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development of team members
· Help plan rotas, manage labour to business levels, and authorise breaks, holidays, and shift changes
· Communicate clearly with the General Manager, Head Chef, and Heads of Department to ensure a joined-up operation
· Champion guest feedback – online reviews, comment cards, and direct feedback – and use it to drive improvement
What We're Looking For
· Proven experience as a Duty Manager, Assistant Manager, F&B Manager, or strong Supervisor ready to step up, ideally in a hotel environment
· Strong Food & Beverage background with excellent knowledge of restaurant, bar, and banqueting service standards
· Confident leader with a hands-on, lead-from-the-front approach and the ability to bring the best out of a team
· Excellent guest-facing skills with a calm, professional manner and genuine warmth
· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
· Commercial awareness with an understanding of revenue, labour, and cost control
· Solid working knowledge of HACCP, health & safety, and licensing legislation
· Comfortable using PMS, POS, and reservation systems – training on our systems will be provided
· Experience with weddings and events is a distinct advantage
· Knowledge of wine, cocktails, and current food and beverage trends is desirable
· Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
