The Role
As the Assistant Director of Incubation Engagement, you will be at the heart of our dynamic Incubator Branch, where collaboration and mutual support are key. Working in Incubator Branch you will work within a small team exploring new technologies for their use and application in Defence. Working closely with technology suppliers, and business areas in Defence you will lead, plan, conduct and evaluate, technology incubations, aligned closely to Defence business needs.
With your strong leadership and communication skills you will develop and execute Incubation Activity Plans, engaging all stakeholders in the process, both within and external to Defence. You will then monitor and evaluate the activities developing detailed reports that capture progress and outcomes.
Your role will also involve designing and implementing services that meet the needs of our stakeholders, applying SAFe Agile methodologies to ensure efficient project management, and demonstrating the impact of our activities through presentations.
Flexibility and agility are essential, as you will need to adapt to new tasks and changing priorities while working collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
The Incubator Branch within the Architecture and Strategy Division (DAS) of Defence Digital Group (DDG) is responsible for evaluating best-in-class, sovereign technology and its fit for purpose across Defence Capabilities. Incubation activities are completed in a multi-cloud hosting capability that ensures technology is evaluated against security postures and use cases unique to the Department of Defence.
The team operates within an agile delivery methodology that is collaborative, flexible and transparent to stakeholders across the department. Evaluations completed by the branch are used to inform technology choices made by the department in the delivery of its objectives.
