Engineering Technician, Hardware Test Engineering, Seats
What to Expect
As a member of Tesla's Hardware Test Engineering group, this Engineering Technician will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working closely with Test Engineers to meet tight deadlines and drive results. This hands-on role involves assembling and disassembling seats, as well as removing and reinstalling vehicle components to facilitate testing. The Technician will also design and build test fixtures, execute tests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring seat systems from concept to program release. If you're a detail-oriented and resourceful individual who excels under pressure, this role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative vehicle technologies.

What You'll Do
  • Utilize various tools, including calipers, digital multimeters, force gauges, torque wrenches, and DAQs
  • Solder, crimp, and read wiring diagrams to support electrical testing and troubleshooting
  • Execute tests, including setup, teardown, inspections, maintenance, and retrofits, and operate forklifts to move equipment in and out of chambers and lab space
  • Assemble and prepare test fixtures, including support structures, devices under test, controllers, wire harnesses, and test equipment
  • Document and report issues identified during tests or inspections to support continuous improvement
  • Support engineers with instrumentation and data acquisition to ensure accurate and reliable test results
  • Use power tools, such as bandsaws and drill presses, to fabricate test equipment and fixtures
  • Perform seat teardowns and inspections to support testing and validation activities

What You'll Bring
  • Possesses basic experience with MS Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Understands Ohm's Law and its application in electrical testing and troubleshooting
  • Prioritizes safety in all aspects of work, adhering to established protocols and procedures
  • Demonstrates strong multitasking, communication, and organization skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Is capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs throughout the day and climbing stairs as needed
  • Adapts quickly to changing project priorities and tasks, with a flexible and responsive approach

Expected Compensation

$28.80 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
