Summer 2026 Marketing and Communications Internship Program
Internship Dates: June 1 through Aug. 7, 2026
Better Business Bureau® of Michigan is seeking four motivated, creative and organized interns to support major summer marketing initiatives, events, digital communications and operational projects. Interns will gain hands-on experience working alongside a collaborative marketing and communications team while contributing to high-visibility projects tied to business education, artificial intelligence programming, community outreach and brand growth.
These internships are designed to provide meaningful professional experience, portfolio-building opportunities and ownership of real projects that impact the organization.
Internship Details
- Schedule: Approximately 15 hours per week
- In-office days: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- Hours: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Compensation: $18.50 per hour
- Location: In person at the BBB® of Michigan office in Grand Rapids or Southfield
Interns may occasionally support events or projects outside standard office hours with advance notice.
Position Summary
The Events and Experiential Marketing Intern supports the planning, coordination and execution of events, educational programs and public-facing experiences. This role helps transform events into engaging marketing opportunities while supporting attendee experience and event logistics.
This internship is ideal for someone interested in event marketing, experiential marketing, live production, communications or nonprofit event management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with event preparation, setup and day-of coordination
- Support attendee registration and event check-in processes
- Help prepare signage, presentation materials and event collateral
- Assist with speaker coordination and presentation support
- Help organize event schedules, materials and logistics
- Support photo and video coordination during events
- Assist with gathering event recap content, quotes and highlights
- Help support sponsor visibility and branded experiences
- Assist with post-event follow-up and communication
- Support inventory organization for event materials and promotional items
Summer Project Focus
This intern will help support several high-priority summer initiatives, including the Blaze AI Summit and other educational and community events.
Projects may include:
- Assisting with summit logistics and attendee experience planning
- Supporting interactive event concepts and engagement activities
- Helping organize event signage and branded materials
- Assisting with speaker assets including bios, headshots and presentation coordination
- Supporting QR code-connected event experiences and digital engagement tools
- Helping improve event processes and documentation for future use
- Assisting with photography, recap content and post-event storytelling
Additional Opportunities
- Gain hands-on experience in live event execution and experiential marketing
- Learn how marketing campaigns support event attendance and engagement
- Participate in brainstorming for audience experience and event promotion
- Work directly with marketing leadership on high-visibility projects
