Executive Assistant To The Chancellor

The Executive Assistant acts in a problem-solving and coordinative role in support of the Chancellor. Oversees the Chancellor’s daily administrative needs and schedule. Uses concepts and organization objectives to resolve the most complex issues with institution-wide impact. Provides professional expertise and collaborates with a wide variety of staff and management at all levels in the university. Functions with a high degree of autonomy and utmost discretion. Routinely collaborates with team members in the Immediate Office of the Chancellor and in the offices of leaders across UCSF. Reports to the Associate Chancellor who provides guidance, as needed.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $84,400 - $180,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Immediate Office of the Chancellor serves as the central administrative home for the Chancellor and his/her immediate staff. The office oversees sensitive, strategic and often urgent issues, communications, and events on behalf of the Chancellor. In doing so, the staff routinely partners with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior campus leaders, faculty, staff, trainees and donors, as well as government, private- and public-sector officials. The professionalism and effectiveness of the office is crucial to UCSF’s operations and reputation. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 10+ years directly related work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of common computer applications
  • Advanced analytical /and complex problem-solving skills
  • Advanced political acumen and sensitivities to the differing perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of the organization as well as the Office of the President and external constituencies.
  • Advanced service orientation and attention to detail
  • Excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni / donors, students and external constituents, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent skills in collaboration and teamwork
  • Excellent ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Ability to use a high level of discretion and maintain all confidentiality
  • Excellent judgment
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures
  • Small- to mid-size project management skills
