The Catholic Schools Office of Maitland-Newcastle is seeking dedicated Casual Teachers (Visiting Teachers) to contribute to our vibrant educational community in 2025.

Our network encompasses 58 schools across urban, rural, and regional areas, supported by over 1,200 teachers and 550 staff members. We are currently expanding our pool of visiting teachers to support our dynamic schools and teams.

POSITION DESCRIPTION (LINK)
As a visiting teacher in our Catholic schools, you will play an essential role in fostering the holistic growth of every student—academically, spiritually, and personally. You will engage students and their families in a faith-based educational journey, enriching their learning experience and nurturing a love for learning.
Our teachers are instrumental in creating an environment of curiosity, creativity, and excellence. They design and deliver differentiated learning programs that cater to the diverse needs of students, ensuring each child can achieve their full potential. Through innovative teaching practices and robust assessment strategies, you will inspire meaningful connections and lifelong learning.
How It Works:

- Pre-Screening Process: If shortlisted, the People and Culture team will guide you through pre-employment requirements, including:
- NESA Accreditation
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- National Criminal Check
- Additional compliance checks
- Contract and Access: Once approved, you will receive a casual employment contract and gain access to our schools through ClassCover.
If shortlisted, and email will be sent to you and a member of the People and Culture team will guide you through pre-employment requirements.
Please ensure you have certified copies of academic qualifications and all other relevant documentation prepared prior to submission to ensure a streamlined process.
Skills and Experiences:
To be successful, you must demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to Catholic Education, including actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture.
For Primary or Religion Teaching positions you must also be Catholic.
In your cover letter please ensure you address each of the following
- How would you approach managing a classroom of varying abilities on short notice? Please provide an example of a strategy or activity you might use.
- Describe strategies would you use to quickly build rapport with students in a casual teaching role?
- How do you collaborate with school staff to meet the needs of all students?
- How would you promote a culture of safety when working with school-aged children, and how do you ensure that students feel safe and supported?
- How do you demonstrate an innovative mindset committed to continuous improvement.
