THE ROLE
The Family Counsellor – MFS will provide professional consultation, assessment and clinical counseling services through evidence-based practices to singles, families, couples, and children, and will provide crisis intervention to families.
The Family Counsellor – MFS will develop and deliver preventative mental health and lifestyle management programs, workshops and services for families, and will provide referral and follow-up services to clients requiring specialized professional services as well as support self-help, therapeutic and support group’s development through facilitation, presentations and/or information sharing
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or a related field AND several years of experience in social work, counselling or a related field
AND
Current Registered Professional Counsellors (RPC) or Master Practitioners in Clinical Counselling (MPCC) designation or equivalent
Experience
In psychosocial counselling using evidence-based treatment approaches
In the use of recognized, evidence-based treatment approaches
In client case management
In developing, planning and conducting presentations and briefing sessions
In crisis intervention
In emergency response to critical incidents
In developing and facilitating self-help, therapeutic and support groups
Competencies
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
English Essential, Bilingual an asset
Reading: Functional
Writing: Functional
Oral: Advanced

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As part of the selection process, the successful candidate must successfully complete a Reliability status security screening and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
