About the opportunity:
We are looking for a talented Feedmill Hand to join our team in Goonoo. Goonoo Feedlot & Station is situated in the Central Highlands of Queensland, 65km southeast of Emerald, and is a specialised Wagyu feedlot & backgrounding operation, feeding 20,000 head of Wagyu cattle for both international and
domestic markets.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Receive, handle, and store commodities in accordance with site procedures
- Prepare feedstuffs to required specifications
- Operate mills, Harvestore, tempering systems, and in‑loading equipment as required
- Operate loaders to safely and efficiently load feed trucks
- Maintain all mill areas to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene
- Carry out livestock feeding in accordance with mill procedures
- Mix feed rations in the feed truck
- Feed out rations accurately and efficiently
- Assist with routine maintenance of mill machinery and equipment
- Undertake general feedlot maintenance as directed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment at all times
- Provide support in lick block production activities
Required Skills & Experience:
- Hold a current and valid driver’s licence
- Demonstrated knowledge of intensive livestock production systems
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure
- A mature, rational, and solutions‑focused approach to problem‑solving
- Appropriate licences and tickets required for the operation of mill vehicles and equipment
- Willingness and capability to use computer systems
- Knowledge of grain and commodity specifications
- General machinery maintenance skills
