The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Operations and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the Finance and Operations Intern will play a key role in supporting College for Social Innovation’s day-to-day operations with a heightened focus on Salesforce adoption, data integrity, and systems improvement. This role is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit operations, financial management, and especially the growing intersection of technology and organizational systems.

This is a part-time, summer position for roughly 24 hours per week for approximately 10 weeks, but the schedule can be flexible. Start and end dates are negotiable depending on the intern's academic schedule, but will ideally include all of June and July. The position is hybrid, and the intern must be able to work from our Boston office 1-2 days per week.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Operations Support (60%)

  • Assist with the implementation and testing of Salesforce objects such as Opportunities, and custom Dashboards new to the organization.
  • Support the development of internal documentation (e.g., “Rosetta Stone” for Salesforce) to guide staff in using key fields, reports, and dashboards.
  • Help ensure all active FormAssembly forms are properly mapped to Salesforce for seamless evaluation tracking.
  • Contribute to revamping the user interface of SF for each profile/role
  • Work with staff to clean and organize Salesforce data in preparation for a bi-annual Salesforce audit.

Financial Management Support (40%)

  • Support all audit activities, including:
  • Locating necessary receipts and documentation
  • Preparing necessary documentation
  • Verifying accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Make bank deposits and report financial results to management
  • Support the reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, and all expense tracking for the organization
  • Work with the Manager of Operations to perform budgeting, forecasting, planning, and variance review activities
  • Work with the Manager of Operations on the creation, implementation, and update of a system to manage the finances associated with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Support with all other necessary functions as needed

QUALIFICATIONS & MINDSET

  • You are enrolled as a student in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application.
  • You have a strong interest in non-profit financial and operational management.
  • You have experience and are at least at the intermediate level skill set for Salesforce or another CRM platform.
  • You have experience and are skilled at using Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • You have a basic level of knowledge of accounting principles and QuickBooks
  • You have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $20.00 per hour
  • $600 per month summer housing offer in Boston, MA, if interested in living in CFSI housing
